Sr3B2O6:Ce3+, Sr3B2O6:Dy3+ and Sr3B2O6:Ce3+/Dy3+ phosphors were synthesized by a solid state reaction. The phase, excitation and emission spectra, decay curves and energy transfer were investigated and discussed. For Sr3B2O6:Ce3+ and Sr3B2O6:Dy3+ phosphors, emission bands originating from transitions of Ce3+ and Dy3+ are observed. There is an obvious overlap between the emission spectrum of Sr3B2O6:Ce3+ and excitation spectrum of Sr3B2O6:Dy3+, which suggests the possible energy transfer from Ce3+ to Dy3+ in Sr3B2O6 host. The emission spectra of Sr3B2O6:Ce3+/Dy3+ phosphors consist of emission bands corresponding to Ce3+ and Dy3+. The luminescence properties of Sr3B2O6:Ce3'/Dy3' phosphors confirm the energy transfer from Ce3+ and Dy3+ in Sr3B2O6 host. The CIE and CCT values of Sr3B2O6:Ce3+/Dy3+ phosphors demonstrate that the Sr3B2O6:Ce3+/Dy3+ phosphors can be used in home application of white light and commercial white lighting purposes.
