Novel tetranuclear zinc compounds, [Zn-4(mu-SeO3)(2)(mu(4)-SeO3)(2)(bipy)(4)]center dot 11H(2)O (1) and [Zn-4(mu-SeO3)(2)(mu(4)-SeO3)(2)(phen)(4)]center dot 9H(2)O (2), which are the first examples of organically templated zinc selenite compounds containing closed-frameworks, have been synthesized via solvothermal processes. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopy, crystallographic methods and DFT calculations.
