Some research have shown that the household responsibility system is the basic agricultural system in China. That has significantly promoted China's agricultural growth. But it causes the phenomenon of land fragmentation. This phenomenon reduces the efficiency of farming. In order to maximum yield, farmers have to use more fertilizer and pesticide. This research suggests that this view is not entirely correct. This research uses data of Guangdong thousand village surveys in 2018, and uses OLS model, quantile model and seemingly unrelated regression model for empirical analysis. We found that farmers will use fertilizers and pesticides in different places according to the cognitive labels of farmland cleanliness. If farmers think the farmland is clean, they will use less fertilizer and pesticide in order to protect the farmland.Contrarily, they will use more fertilizer and pesticide.Who is more susceptible to cognitive labels? The answer is part-time farmers.Because they need to use clean farmland as a carrier for future employment. They will use less fertilizer and pesticide in order to protect the farmland.part-time farmers have a short-term contract, farmland is no longer a guarantee of future employment, they will use more fertilizers and pesticides.
