Synthesis, Characterization, and Crystal Structure of 2-Amino-5-oxo-4-phenyl-4,5-dihydropyrano[3,2-c]chromene-3-carbonitrile

The title compound, 2-amino-5-oxo-4-phenyl-4,5-dihydropyrano[3,2-c]chromene-3-carbonitrile was synthesized in excellent yield by one-pot multicomponent reaction and its crystal structure is determined by X-ray structure analysis. The crystals are monoclinic, sp. gr. P2(1)/c, a = 9.0750(6), b = 13.2729(8), c = 12.6892(9) angstrom, beta = 96.975(6)degrees, Z = 4; R = 0.0466 for 1771 observed reflections. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H center dot center dot center dot N, N-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. In addition, C-H center dot center dot center dot pi and pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions are observed in the crystal structure.
