The United States of America is one of the most competitive economies in the world. The country's competitive advantage is due to its specificity. Therefore, the main goal of this article is to identify the main competitive advantages of the modern U.S. economy. An analysis was conducted of the period from 1990 to 2016. This article presents the main macroeconomic indicators, including gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate, GDP per capita, consumption rate, and trade exchange. Next, the authors analysed the innovation and human capital indicators for the U.S. economy. In addition, this article presents a brief overview and evaluation of government activities. The analysis allows for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the U.S. economy. The authors used data from World Bank, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) databases.
