Gender Differences in Purpose in Life: The Mediation Effect of Altruism

Summary: This study found that women have higher levels of purpose in life and altruism plays an important role in explaining the gender differences. If social norms encourage men to nurture the growth of others through altruistic acts, men could possibly attain a similar level of purpose in life as women.
