William A. Clark et al.

Summary: With China's emergence as a global market economy, the housing market has undergone significant transformation with a growing middle class striving for the Chinese Dream of car, apartment, and family. While there are generational differences in homeownership patterns, overall the shift towards a homeownership society in China has been largely successful.

Sons, daughters, and differentiated tenure choice of multiple homes: evidence from urban China

Kangni Chai et al.

Summary: Multiple-home ownership is increasingly common in Chinese cities, and how families adjust their housing consumption based on the gender of their children has a profound impact on inequality.
