Legitimizing, leveraging, and launching: Developing dynamic capabilities in the MNE

Birgitte Grogaard et al.

Summary: This paper examines how MNEs develop organizational flexibility in response to pressures for global integration and local responsiveness. The study identifies three recombination capabilities - legitimizing, leveraging, and launching capabilities - that contribute to this flexibility. The findings highlight the importance of having the capabilities to legitimize new initiatives and leverage existing strengths in order to successfully implement new strategic initiatives.
