Higher ultra-processed food intake is associated with higher DNA damage in healthy adolescents

Sareh Edalati et al.

Summary: This study found that higher consumption of ultra-processed food among adolescents in Iran was associated with significantly higher levels of 8-OHdG, a biomarker of DNA oxidative damage, in urine. This association remained significant even after adjusting for confounding variables, suggesting the potential health risks of a diet high in ultra-processed foods.
