The recent research describes the actions, interactions, and behavior types exhibited by fish in captivity. The gray mullet's behavior was categorized into four patterns of activity and two feeding variables. The study suggests that the gray mullet is diurnal with gradual locomotion and exhibits cooperative behavior, making it suitable for commercial culture.
In recent which actions, interactions and type of behaviour exhibited by fish in captivity are described. In this research, the gray mullet usual behavior was made up by an activity category with four behavioral patterns (resting, normal, high and rubbing) and a feeding category with two variables (bottom and surface). The frequencies observed were generally homogeneous for most behaviors in the experimental units evaluated, allowing to suggest M. cephalus is a diurnal species, with gradual locomotion, associated with a process of anticipation of feeding. In addition, a cooperative behavior was observed in this fish species, demonstrating it is sociable, non-aggressive and without dominance traits, which are favorable behavioral components for its commercial culture.
