Prediction of tubular solar still performance by machine learning integrated with Bayesian optimization algorithm

Yunpeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed accurate and convenient prediction models of tubular solar still performance using machine learning, with random forest showing superior performance in predicting hourly production. Bayesian optimization significantly improved the performance of artificial neural network, and optimization findings revealed that random forest was less sensitive to hyper parameters than artificial neural network.

A novel reduced graphene oxide based absorber for augmenting the water yield and thermal performance of solar desalination unit

Amrit Kumar Thakur et al.

Summary: The study found that using 12 wt% RGO doped with black paint-coated absorber significantly increased the water yield and absorber temperature of a single basin solar still. Compared to only using black paint-coated absorber, the SS with RGO coating had higher water yield. The application of RGO improved the performance of the SS.

Experimental study of activated carbon as a porous absorber in solar desalination with environmental, exergy, and economic analysis

Gamal B. Abdelaziz et al.

Summary: In this study, the performance of a solar still (SS) using a porous absorber made from activated carbon tubes (RACT) was experimentally evaluated in comparison to a conventional SS without porous material (SS-C). The results showed that the SS with horizontal staggered half capacity (SS-HSC) achieved high performance in various aspects, with significant advantages in energy efficiency, cost reduction, and CO2 emissions reduction.

Performance improvement of double slope solar still via combinations of low cost materials integrated with glass cooling

Khaled Elmaadawy et al.

Summary: The study focused on enhancing the performance of solar stills by using different material combinations, with significant improvements in evaporation and condensation efficiency. The best results were achieved by the modified double slope solar still (MDSSS) with dispersed carbon black nanoparticles on top, showing improved yield, energy efficiency, exergy efficiency, and cost savings compared to conventional solar stills.
