Shapes and Shape Transformations of Solution-Phase Metal Particles in the Sub-nanometer to Nanometer Size Range: Progress and Challenges

Kristen A. Fichthorn et al.

Summary: Metal nanocrystals are crucial in current technologies and will continue to be important in future applications. Shape control is essential for the beneficial properties of nanocrystals, and progress in understanding the shapes of monometallic nanocrystal seeds has been made through experimental and theoretical research. Exciting prospects lie ahead with new applications, advances in electron microscopy, and theoretical developments in quantum and statistical mechanics.

Tuning the coalescence degree in the growth of Pt-Pd nanoalloys

Diana Nelli et al.

Summary: Experimental results show that different growth stages can be achieved on Pt-Pd nanoalloys by adjusting the degree of coalescence. In the coalescence-dominated regime, a variety of coalescing aggregates are produced and analyzed by TEM.
