The waste from thermal power plants, such as fly ash and crusher dust, can be effectively utilized as raw materials in the manufacturing of construction materials, such as bricks and concrete, to reduce pollution and disposal issues.
Thermal power plant produces a large amount of waste mainly in the form of powder which consists of useful chemicals. These chemicals play a key role as a raw material in many construction materials. So, the main objective of the project is to utilize the Fly ash waste in various construction materials such as brick, concrete.etc. Fly ash waste is added in such a way that it should not loss in its properties and hence to protect the environment from pollution. The waste incorporated bricks were tested as per the Bureau of Indian standard (BIS) prescribed, the results were taken to analyze the behavior of the waste incorporated bricks. It is evident that a good brick should possess the value of 3.5 N/ mm(2) compressive strength and its percentage of water absorption should not be more than 20 percent of its weight as per BIS. The result shows compressive strength gradual increases as Fly ash composition increases. Crusher dust also considered to be another solid waste material posing a serious disposal problem is utilized as full replacement material for sand in brick manufacturing. The water absorption test results of raw and 40% of fly ash waste incorporated brick have the value of 3.030 kg and 13.48% of its total weight. While 20% of M-Sand wastes incorporated brick shows the value of 2.81 kg and 12.85%. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
