This paper focuses on the current distribution and AC loss of BSCCO/REBCO hybrid tapes, establishing a one-dimensional model to calculate their performance under AC operating current. Results show good agreement between numerical and experimental results, and the proposed method is effective for analyzing hybrid tapes.
This paper focuses on the current distribution and AC loss of BSCCO/REBCO hybrid tapes. Based on their geometry and E-J character of superconductors, a one-dimensional model is established to compute the current distribution and AC loss under an AC operating current in self-magnetic field. The current distributions of hybrid tapes with different number of REBCO tapes and one BSCCO tape are studied. The numerical and experimental results are in good agreement. According to the current distribution characteristics, AC loss of each tape in the hybrid tape is analyzed and calculated. AC losses of 3 kinds of hybrid tapes are measured and discussed. The method proposed in this paper for AC loss simulation is quite effective for hybrid tapes composited by two or more types of superconducting tapes.
