The interlaced carbon membranes, prepared using cocoons and high-temperature sintering processes, successfully suppressed detrimental Zn dendrite growth by inducing Zn to nucleate and grow into polygons. The symmetric Zn cells with modified Zn anodes by cocoon carbon membranes exhibited a high cycling life of 251 hours at a current density of 0.25 mA cm(-2).
