Delphi consensus on strategies in the management of opioid-induced constipation in cancer patients

Regina Girones Sarrio et al.

Summary: The study used a modified Delphi method to investigate expert opinions on OIC management with 46 physicians. Consensus was reached on 91% of items after two rounds, with emphasis on routine assessment of OIC definition, patient-reported outcomes, individualized treatment, and regular reevaluation for successful management. Oral PAMORAs were recommended as good alternatives for OIC treatment in cancer patients, with the option of co-prescribing laxatives for coexisting functional constipation.
