Efficient self-powered wearable electronic systems enabled by microwave processed thermoelectric materials

Amin Nozariasbmarz et al.

Summary: Integrated body sensor networks are expected to dominate the future of healthcare, and thermoelectric generators can play a crucial role in generating electricity from body heat for self-powered wearable medical devices. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of wearable thermoelectric generators, including synthesis of materials designed for body heat harvesting and considerations for enhancing body comfort by eliminating heatsinks. The optimized materials demonstrated significant improvements in voltage and power generation compared to commercial devices, making them the best in class for body heat harvesting in wearable applications.

Summary: A low-cost and simple manufacturing process based on electrostatic spray technique was proposed to prepare high-performance CNTFs, whose TE and mechanical properties can be optimized by tuning spray voltage and time. The prepared CNTFs possess excellent durability, almost no degradation in electrical conductivity, and can be easily converted into n-type via doping process. This method provides a new way for preparing high-performance fiber-based TE materials.
