Dual Intramolecular Electron Transfer for In Situ Coreactant-Embedded Electrochemiluminescence Microimaging of Membrane Protein

Summary: This study developed a new strategy and system using TEA-Pdots to embed coreactants in the ECL mechanism, leading to significantly improved ECL emission strength. The system can be used for in situ ECL microimaging on single living cells without the need for additional permeable treatment.

Electrochemiluminescence Loss in Photobleaching

Summary: The study investigated the effects of photobleaching on electrochemiluminescence (ECL) for the first time, demonstrating a linear correlation between ECL decrease and photoluminescence (PL) loss. The presented strategy provides valuable information on ECL excited state fundamentals and opens new opportunities for exploring cellular membranes by combining ECL microscopy with photobleaching techniques such as FRAP or FLIP methods.

Summary: The bio-coreactant-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy allows for ECL imaging of intracellular structure and dynamic transport by using Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) and intracellular biomolecules. The research reveals the universal edge effect of cellular electroporation, as well as the dynamic transport of Ru(bpy)(3)(3+) in different cellular compartments and its correlation with the actin cytoskeleton.
