Identification of differentially expressed genes and pathways in isonuclear kenaf genotypes under salt stress

Fazal Munsif et al.

Summary: The study found that the cytoplasmic male sterile kenaf genotype showed higher salt stress tolerance compared to the maintainer genotype, and this tolerance may be associated with photosynthesis, photosynthesis antenna-protein, and plant hormone signal transduction pathways.

SiFBA5, a cold-responsive factor from Saussurea involucrata promotes cold resilience and biomass increase in transgenic tomato plants under cold stress

Jianqiang Mu et al.

Summary: Saussurea involucrata is a cold-resistant plant species that grows in extreme arctic conditions. The key enzyme Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate aldolase (FBA) plays a crucial role in the photosynthesis process. A cold-responsive gene, SiFBA5, has been identified and shown to positively regulate plant response to cold stress, offering potential for improving crop yield under cold stress conditions.

Identification of a rate-limiting step in a metabolic pathway using the kinetic model and in vitro experiment

Sayaka Kitamura et al.

Summary: The study proposed a method to simultaneously determine the V-max values of multiple enzymes in a metabolic pathway using a kinetic model and identified fructose bisphosphate aldolase (FBA) as the rate-limiting step in glycolysis. In vitro experiments showed that adding FBA increased glycolytic flux, and in vivo experiments revealed a higher glucose consumption rate in an FBA overexpression strain compared to a control strain during the stationary phase.

Distinct plastid fructose bisphosphate aldolases function in photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic metabolism in Arabidopsis

Daniel Arpad Carrera et al.

Summary: Plastid metabolism plays a critical role in plant cells, with different isoforms of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase (FBA) showing distinct contributions in different tissues. Loss of specific FBA isoforms can lead to growth defects, indicating the importance of these enzymes in plant development and metabolism. Redundancy and tissue-specific expression patterns of FBA isoforms help plants adapt to their environment and ensure survival.

Interrogating the Role of the Two Distinct Fructose-Bisphosphate Aldolases of Bacillus methanolicus by Site-Directed Mutagenesis of Key Amino Acids and Gene Repression by CRISPR Interference

Kerstin Schultenkaemper et al.

Summary: The Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus methanolicus exhibits plasmid-dependent methylotrophy and possesses two fructose bisphosphate aldolases with distinct kinetic properties. Mutations in specific amino acid residues of these aldolases affect glycolytic and gluconeogenic activities. Gene expression regulation through CRISPR interference shows compensatory effects between the two aldolases, indicating a genetic mechanism for maintaining metabolic balance.
