Triple enhancement of quasi-SU(3) quadrupole collectivity in Strontium-Zirconium N ≈ Z isotopes

K. Kaneko et al.

Summary: Researchers have found that strong collectivity emerges suddenly in the mass-80 region in the nuclear chart. The inclusion of the 2d(5/2) orbit in the model space to cooperate with 1g(9/2) is identified as the key ingredient for describing the rapid increase of collectivity. The quadrupole-quadrupole interaction between quasi-SU(3) partner orbits is the driving force that changes the nuclear shape from oblate- to prolate-deformed.

Triaxial rigidity of 166Er and its Bohr-model realization

Yusuke Tsunoda et al.

Summary: This study presents the triaxial nature of low-lying rotational bands of Er-166 from the perspective of the Bohr Hamiltonian and many-fermion calculations. A novel view suggests definite triaxial shapes of those bands, contrary to the traditional view. Both the Bohr Hamiltonian and many-fermion approaches can describe excitation level energies and E2 transitions well, with rigid triaxiality playing vital roles.

Quasi-SU(3) coupling of (1h11/2, 2f7/2) across the N=82 shell gap: Enhanced E2 collectivity and shape evolution in Nd isotopes

K. Kaneko et al.

Summary: The quasi-SU(3) coupling scheme proposed by Zuker et al. suggests that high-j intruder orbit alone is insufficient for inducing required large collectivity, and correlation through quadrupole interaction with another higher-lying orbit is necessary. Extending this idea to the medium-heavy mass region, a realistic PMMU shell model was applied to investigate energy levels and B(E2) values for several isotopes, revealing underestimations in some nuclei near the neutron midshell that can be resolved by including the 2f(7/2) orbit.

Projection on particle number and angular momentum: Example of triaxial Bogoliubov quasiparticle states

Benjamin Bally et al.

Summary: This work provides a general introduction to the projection method for restoring broken symmetries in many-body systems, investigates the numerical implementation and practical aspects of particle-number and angular-momentum projection, and analyzes the implications of intrinsic symmetries of the symmetry-breaking states when projecting them. The results include a concise presentation of the method, achieving high accuracy in numerical evaluations, and reducing computational costs by leveraging symmetries of reference states. The quantum-number projection technique is versatile, efficient, and can be applied to various nuclear systems to restore their symmetry.

Variational approach with the superposition of the symmetry-restored quasiparticle vacua for nuclear shell-model calculations

Noritaka Shimizu et al.

Summary: The study introduced a variational calculation scheme suitable for medium-heavy nuclei in shell-model calculations, which accurately estimates energy through the superposition of quasiparticle vacua. The method demonstrated good performance in practical applications within the model space.
