Edge modes of gravity. Part III. Corner simplicity constraints

Laurent Freidel et al.

Summary: In this work, a systematic analysis of the corner symplectic structure encoding the symmetry algebra of gravity is conducted, along with a thorough analysis of the simplicity constraints. The paper presents a particle-like description of (quantum) geometry based on fixing the Heisenberg frame and simplifying the Poincare symmetry to a Lorentz subalgebra. The study also introduces a regularization of the corner algebra and examines the covariant and continuous irreducible representations of the infinite-dimensional corner algebra as an alternative path to quantization.

Most general theory of 3d gravity: covariant phase space, dual diffeomorphisms, and more

Marc Geiller et al.

Summary: In three-dimensional gravity, there are two layers of dualities between diffeomorphisms and a notion of dual diffeomorphisms, as well as between first order curvature and torsion. These dualities are elegantly revealed when studying the Mielke-Baekler Lagrangian. Within each sector of the torsion/curvature duality, there exists a well-defined notion of dual diffeomorphism, forming a centerless double Virasoro algebra along with the usual diffeomorphisms.

Conservation and integrability in lower-dimensional gravity

Romain Ruzziconi et al.

Summary: This study addresses the issues of conservation and integrability of charges in two and three-dimensional gravity theories, using a holographic renormalization procedure for analysis and treatment. Charge expressions are found to be generally finite, not conserved, but can be made integrable through a field-dependent redefinition of the asymptotic symmetry parameters.

Chiral massive news: null boundary symmetries in topologically massive gravity

H. Adami et al.

Summary: The study focuses on surface charges on a generic null boundary in three dimensional topological massive gravity, constructing the solution phase space with four independent functions. One function corresponds to the chiral propagating graviton mode, while the other three correspond to distinct surface charges of the theory. The null boundary symmetry algebra is identified as Heisenberg circle plus Virasoro algebra, with a central charge related to the gravitational Chern-Simons term of TMG.

Weyl charges in asymptotically locally AdS3 spacetimes

Francesco Alessio et al.

Summary: We discuss an enhancement of the Brown-Henneaux boundary conditions in three-dimensional AdS general relativity to encompass Weyl transformations of the boundary metric. The resulting asymptotic symmetry algebra, after a field-dependent redefinition of the generators, is a direct sum of two copies of the Witt algebra and the Weyl Abelian sector. The charges associated with Weyl transformations are nonvanishing, integrable but not conserved due to a flux driven by the Weyl anomaly coefficient. The charge algebra admits an additional nontrivial central extension in the Weyl sector, related to the well-known Weyl anomaly. We then construct the holographic Weyl current and show that it satisfies an anomalous Ward-Takahashi identity of the boundary theory.

Geometric formulation of the covariant phase space methods with boundaries

Juan Margalef-Bentabol et al.

Summary: This paper comprehensively analyzes the geometric structure of the covariant phase space of local field theories defined over space-time with boundaries using the relative bicomplex framework. It demonstrates formal equivalence between theories with and without boundaries, constructs Noether currents and charges, and clarifies misconceptions about boundary terms. The authors also provide the CPS-algorithm for constructing symplectic structures and apply it to relevant examples.
