Analysis of the characteristics of phosphine production by anaerobic digestion based on microbial community dynamics, metabolic pathways, and isolation of the phosphate-reducing strain

Yimin Fan et al.

Summary: Phosphine production in anaerobic digestion was found to mainly occur during logarithmic microbial growth, with dehydrogenase and hydrogen playing key roles. The abundance of Ruminococcaceae and Escherichia was observed to promote phosphine generation. Metabolic pathway analysis revealed associations between phosphine formation and genetic information processing, biosynthesis of cofactors, prosthetic groups, electron carriers, and vitamins.

Inhibition of norfloxacin on anaerobic digestion: Focusing on the recoverability and shifted microbial communities

Kongyun Zhu et al.

Summary: Norfloxacin inhibits methane production in anaerobic digestion, but the performance and microbial community can recover when the inhibitor is removed. Inhibition of Candidatus_Cloacimonas, Petrimonas, Ercella, Sphaerochaeta and hydrogenotrophic methanogens by NOR is reversible, while inhibition of acetoclastic methanogen Methanosaeta is irreversible.

Anaerobic co-digestion of chicken manure and cardboard waste: Focusing on methane production, microbial community analysis and energy evaluation

Shunan Zhao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the synergistic effect and microbial changes during anaerobic co-digestion of chicken manure and cardboard. Results showed increased methane production and enhancement of acidogenesis and hydrolase activity. Microbial analysis revealed higher acetoclastic Methanosaeta abundance and a network analysis demonstrated methane production through the matching of hydrolytic and acidogenesis bacteria. Energy balance was improved by 38% with an energy recovery rate of 46.4% through the synergistic effect.

Exercise and food supplement of vitamin C ameliorate hypertension through improvement of gut microflora in the spontaneously hypertensive rats

Ying Li et al.

Summary: Exercise and vitamin C supplementation can lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats by modulating gut microbiota composition and inflammatory state in the hypothalamus and intestine. Combining the two treatments enhances their effects and may serve as a non-medical aid for hypertensive patients.

A comprehensive review on anaerobic digestion of organic fraction of municipal solid waste

M. F. M. A. Zamri et al.

Summary: This article provides a comprehensive review of anaerobic digestion (AD) process using the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) substrate. Key factors affecting digestion efficiency include the hydrolysis phase and process conditions. Solid-state anaerobic digestion (SSAD) is the most suitable method for OFMSW, with proper parameter selection being crucial for process feasibility and economic sustainability.

Synergistic association between cytochrome bd-encoded Proteiniphilum and reactive oxygen species (ROS)-scavenging methanogens in microaerobic-anaerobic digestion of lignocellulosic biomass

Zhuoying Wu et al.

Summary: Intermittent microaerobic digestion of lignocellulosic biomass at a high organic loading rate showed higher digestibility and better stability compared to strict anaerobic conditions. The study identified efficient cellulolytic facultative bacterium and methanogens as key players in maintaining the delicate balance under microaeration. Additionally, cytochrome bd oxidase and antioxidant enzymes were found to potentially improve digestibility and stability in intermittent microaerobic digestion.
