Gravitational tuning forks and hierarchical triple systems

Vitor Cardoso et al.

Summary: Research has found that hierarchical triple systems composed of binary systems can generate gravitational waves in the strong-field regime, providing evidence for coalescences reported by the LIGO-Virgo Collaboration and serving as targets for the LISA mission and other advanced detectors. The GW signals from these systems exhibit unique features, allowing for the study of strong-field physics and the nature of black holes (BH).
