The type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterojunction of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods and conjugated co-polymers for photoelectrochemical water splitting and photocatalytic dye degradation

Nani Gopal Ghosh et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of two organic semiconductors coupled with Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods to create type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterostructures. These nano-heterostructures not only enhance visible-light absorption but also improve the delocalization and transportation of photogenerated carriers due to advantageous band alignments. The organic semiconductors exhibit better photoelectrochemical performances than Ti3+/TiO2 NRs, with TP1 NHs showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency.

Synergistic role of electron-trapped oxygen vacancy and exposed TiO2 [001] facets toward electrochemical p-nitrophenol reduction: Characterization, performance and mechanism

Congcong Ni et al.

Summary: The electron-trapped oxygen vacancy and [001] facets of TiO2 have a synergistic effect on the electrochemical activity towards p-nitrophenol (p-NP) reduction. The introduction of [001] facets and electron-trapped oxygen vacancy on TiO2 can improve electron transfer and indirect reduction efficiency for p-NP electrochemical reduction. Modulating the reduction temperature can affect the electron-trapped oxygen vacancy extent on TiO2, with the Ti/TiO2-x-001 cathode prepared at 350 degrees Celsius showing the highest p-NP reduction efficiency.

Highly efficient Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 co-modified with carbon dots and palladium nanocomposites for disinfection of bacterial and fungi

Jingtao Zhang et al.

Summary: The Pd/CDs/Ti3+-TiO2 nanocomposites synthesized in this study exhibited superior photocatalyzed antibacterial activity against E. coli and five pathogenic agricultural fungi, with minimal dark cytotoxicity on HepG2 and V-79 cells. Additionally, the recycling capacity for the photodisinfective activity of the nanocomposites was found to be unchanged after five cycles. Four active species contributing to the photoinduced antimicrobial activity of the catalyst were identified as h(+), center dot O-2(-), center dot OH, and e(-).

Engineering Z-system hybrids of 0D/2D F-TiO2 quantum dots/g-C3N4 heterostructures through chemical bonds with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic performance

Jian Wang et al.

Summary: Constructing a Z-scheme system with F-doped TiO2 quantum dots and g-C3N4 nanosheets enhances the photocatalyst's oxidizability, reducibility, and interfacial charge transfer ability. The designed catalyst shows improved photocatalytic performance for RhB decomposition, Cr(vi) reduction, and phenol decomposition under visible light irradiation. The Z-scheme charge transfer model greatly enhances the separation and transfer of charge carriers in photocatalysis.
