Thermodynamics and kinetics of cationic/anionic dyes adsorption on cross-linked chitosan

Rungroj Chanajaree et al.

Summary: Experimental and computational approaches were used to investigate the removal of cationic and anionic dyes by cross-linked chitosan beads. It was found that cationic dyes, specifically Malachite Green, were more effectively adsorbed compared to anionic dyes like Indigo carmine.

Adsorption, kinetics and thermodynamics studies of methyl orange dye sequestration through chitosan composites films

Shah Hussain et al.

Summary: Different films containing pure chitosan and chitosan-coated zeolites were used for the sequestration of methyl orange dye. Results showed that CSZ3 had the highest adsorption capacity while CSZ4 had the lowest. Various analysis methods such as multilayer adsorption and pseudo-second order kinetics were used to explore the adsorption kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics of the dye.

A combined molecular dynamic simulation, DFT calculations, and experimental study of the eriochrome black T dye adsorption onto chitosan in aqueous solutions

Malika Khnifira et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the adsorption of eriochrome black T by chitosan extracted from local shrimp shells, finding a strong adsorption capacity in acidic medium, fitting well with the pseudo-secondorder kinetic model, and indicating monolayer adsorption of EB molecules according to the Langmuir model. Calculated quantum chemical parameters and molecular dynamics approach supported the experimental results obtained.

Adsorption mechanism of Zn2+, Ni2+, Cd2+, and Cu2+ ions by carbon-based adsorbents: interpretation of the adsorption isotherms via physical modelling

Fatma Dhaouadi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the adsorption mechanism of heavy metals Zn2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, and Cu(2+) on carbon-based adsorbents, revealing a multi-ionic process where ions interact with functional groups on the adsorbent surface simultaneously. The best adsorbent for heavy metal removal was obtained from CC biomass pyrolysis, and the adsorption energies were associated with physisorption-type forces.
