Decay and subluminality of modes of all wave numbers in the relativistic dynamics of viscous and heat conductive fluids

Heinrich Freistuehler et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the causal and stable properties of a second-order hyperbolic system of partial differential equations modeling relativistic dynamics of barotropic fluids, showing decay and subluminal propagation of Fourier-Laplace modes in arbitrary Lorentz frames. The stability of related non-barotropic fluid models is also demonstrated. Analytical proofs provided in this study appear to be the first regarding any four-field formulation of dissipative relativistic fluid dynamics.
