Adsorption of uranium(VI) from aqueous solution by phosphorylated luffa rattan activated carbon

Yanan Zhang et al.

Summary: Phosphorylated activated carbon was prepared from silk gourd loofah rattan by phosphoric acid modification, and the adsorption performance was significantly influenced by solution pH, with the optimum pH value for adsorption being 5.0. The adsorption equilibrium time was around 240 minutes, with a peak adsorption quantity of 197 mg/g. The pseudo-second-order equation and Langmuir equation were found to be more suitable for describing the adsorption process.

Direct Tissue Mass Spectrometry Imaging by Atmospheric Pressure UV-Laser Desorption Plasma Postionization

Bin Yan et al.

Summary: Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization at atmospheric pressure is a promising technique for mass spectrometry imaging of biological tissues. Coupling with low-temperature plasma can greatly improve sensitivity. Different methods of applying matrix during MALDI experiments have varying ion yields, with sandwich preparation showing the highest yields. Despite this, matrix-free imaging methods show potential and advancements in postionization strategies are promising for efficient laser sampling under ambient conditions.

Polyamidoxime nanoparticles/polyvinyl alcohol composite chelating nanofibers prepared by centrifugal spinning for uranium extraction

Fengxia Wang et al.

Summary: The study showed that PAN NPs can expose a large number of PAO NPs on the surface of PVA nanofibers at different PAN NPs content. The PAO NPs/PVA nanofibers exhibit excellent adsorption performance with fast adsorption rate, good selectivity to uranyl ions, and good regeneration ability. The dynamic adsorption process of the nanofibers follows the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetics.

Oxidized biochar obtained from rice straw as adsorbent to remove uranium (VI) from aqueous solutions

Waqas Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of rice straw derived biochar as a precursor for oxidized biochar to adsorb/ remove uranium (VI) from aqueous solutions. The RSBC-Ox showed high removal efficacy with a maximal adsorption capacity of 242.65 mg g(-1), fitting well to kinetic and isotherm models. The research highlights the potential of reusing rice straw as an effective and low-cost adsorbent for U(VI) removal, promoting resource utilization and sustainable materials management.
