Vacancy-Induced Low-Energy Density of States in the Kitaev Spin Liquid

Wen-Han Kao et al.

Summary: In this study, the introduction of random vacancies in the Kitaev model is shown to lead to a power-law upturn in specific heat measurements of H3LiIr2O6, and new insights into the system's response are proposed. The origin and nature of vacancies have minimal impact on the significant accumulation of low-energy Majorana modes, which can be readily detected.

Theoretical scheme for finite-temperature dynamics of Kitaev's spin liquids

Summary: This article reviews the theoretical formulation and exact solution of finite temperature dynamics of Kitaev's spin liquid, as well as how to accurately capture resonance features in the data through a real-time scheme. The proposed method provides an effective way to explain fractional excitations in Kitaev's spin liquid.

Duality and domain wall dynamics in a twisted Kitaev chain

Summary: The terahertz spectroscopic study of quasi-one-dimensional ferromagnet CoNb2O6 reveals bond-dependent interactions similar to the one-dimensional honeycomb Kitaev spin liquid. The material is shown to be described by a 'twisted Kitaev chain' model, deviating from the Ising chain model. The ferromagnetic ground state arises from a compromise between two axes, leading to quantum motion of domain walls and potential for quantum spin liquid behavior in Co2+ magnets.
