The Interaction Effect of Crisis Communication and Social Support on The Emotional Exhaustion of University Employees during the COVID-19 Crisis

Peerayuth Charoensukmongkol et al.

Summary: Formal communication from management is important during a crisis, but the moderating role of social support in reducing uncertainties is not well known. This study examines the impact of crisis communication on perceived uncertainties and emotional exhaustion among employees of private international universities affected by the COVID-19 crisis, as well as the moderating effect of social support. The results show that perceived uncertainties mediate the negative association between crisis communication and emotional exhaustion, and coworker support moderates the association between crisis communication and perceived uncertainties.
