Bayesian inference assessment of protein secondary structure analysis using circular dichroism data - how much structural information is contained in protein circular dichroism spectra?

Summary: A Bayesian model was proposed to estimate the covariance structure within measured circular dichroism spectra and quantify uncertainty associated with inferred secondary structures in this study. Bayesian model selection tools were used to determine the best secondary structure classification scheme. The study found that more than 3 distinct secondary structure classes cannot be identified from CD spectra above 175 nm.
