Self-Densified Optically Transparent VO2 Thermochromic Wood Film for Smart Windows

Sai Liu et al.

Summary: Optically transparent wood has shown great potential as a promising alternative to glass for window applications due to its high optical transmittance, strong mechanical properties, and excellent thermal insulation capability. A new thermochromic transparent wood film (TTWF) has been proposed, which offers thermal switching of transmittance and features waterproof self-cleaning and anti-dust functions. This innovative material has advanced optical properties, robust mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity, and has demonstrated significant energy-efficient benefits in reducing indoor temperatures in smart windows.

Hydrothermal synthesis of monoclinic vanadium dioxide nanocrystals using phase-pure vanadium precursors for high-performance smart windows

Jong Bae Kim et al.

Summary: The hydrothermal synthesis of monoclinic-phase vanadium dioxide (VO2(M)) has been extensively studied for energy-saving smart windows. Structures and compositions of vanadium precursors significantly influence the hydrothermal synthesis products. W-doped VO2(M) NCs exhibit superior phase transition behaviors with reduced transition temperature depending on the W-doping concentration.
