Summary: Various countries have quickly responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing technologies like robots, AI, and digital tools for maintaining social distancing, rapid diagnosis, and hygiene. A study examined 163 news articles and scientific reports on technology adoption related to COVID-19, selecting 50 applications for review to analyze their engineering characteristics and potential impact on the pandemic. Challenges and future directions in responding to this and future pandemics were also summarized and discussed.
