Pyrvinium pamoate induces in-vitro suppression of IL-6 and IL-8 produced by human endometriotic stromal cells

Amin Karamian et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease with a prevalence of around 10-15% among reproductive-age women. High levels of IL-6 and IL-8 have been found in the peritoneal fluid of women with this disease, and are involved in its pathogenesis. The compound pyrvinium pamoate shows potential in suppressing the mRNA gene expression and secretion of IL-6 and IL-8 in human endometriotic stromal cells, but further research is needed before clinical application.

Antiinflammatory Actions of Klotho: Implications for Therapy of Diabetic Nephropathy

Marlena Typiak et al.

Summary: Klotho, initially introduced as an antiaging molecule, plays a crucial role in regulating phosphate and calcium metabolism, protecting against oxidative stress, and downregulating apoptosis. Despite its beneficial effects in diabetes and diabetic nephropathy, the therapeutic potential of Klotho is reduced in early stages of inflammation due to downregulation by proinflammatory factors.

Review on Inflammation Markers in Chronic Kidney Disease

Tadej Petreski et al.

Summary: Chronic kidney disease is a major health problem in modern society, with a continuously rising prevalence. Recent studies have identified novel markers and gained new insights into the pathogenesis of CKD. Further large-scale studies are needed to establish the role of these markers in clinical practice.

In vitro and in vivo tenocyte-protective effectiveness of dehydroepiandrosterone against high glucose-induced oxidative stress

Shintaro Mukohara et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that DHEA has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in both in vitro and in vivo settings. Additionally, DHEA improved tendon matrix synthesis and turnover under hyperglycemic conditions, suggesting its potential as a preventive drug for diabetic tendinopathy.

FKBPL and SIRT-1 Are Downregulated by Diabetes in Pregnancy Impacting on Angiogenesis and Endothelial Function

Abdelrahim Alqudah et al.

Summary: The study indicates that the downregulation of FKBPL and SIRT-1 in diabetic pregnancies may play a key role in the development of vascular dysfunction and associated complications. The expression of these proteins is regulated under high glucose conditions and can affect endothelial cell function and placental angiogenesis.
