This paper presents a novel Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller (FOSMC) for speed and currents of a PMSG system in a d-q reference frame, aiming to track the maximum power point of wind turbines based on PMSG. The controller adopts P&O technique to control the generator speed and rotor currents, and the simulation results are compared with classical SMC.
Permanent magnetic generators (PMSGs) are gaining popularity in wind turbine production with the development of electronic power technology. This paper presents a novel Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller (FOSMC) for speed and currents of a PMSG system in a d - q reference frame. The key objective of the controller is to track the maximum power point of wind turbines based on PMSG by adopting P&O technique to control the generator speed and rotor currents. Finally the simulation results of the proposed method in comparison to classical SMC is investigated
