Acquired salivary pellicle and oral diseases: A literature review

Darren Dhananthat Chawhuaveang et al.

Summary: Acquired salivary pellicle is a dynamic process of macromolecular adsorption and desorption that plays a crucial role in the development of oral diseases. It acts as a natural barrier to protect the tooth surface, modulates calcium and phosphate concentrations, influences the initial colonizer of oral biofilm, and affects the transportation pathway of acidic products, contributing to the prevention of dental caries and periodontal disease.

Acquired pellicle engineering with proteins/peptides: Mechanism of action on native human enamel surface

Vinicius Taioqui Pela et al.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of different proteins/peptides on native human enamel by direct action on the enamel surface and modifying the salivary pellicle. The combination of all three proteins/peptides demonstrated the best protective effect, offering a new direction for the prevention of dental erosion.
