Summary: Noncovalent interactions at electrified interfaces play a key role in enhancing the activity of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The study showed that OER activity on RuO2(110) in alkaline solutions is dependent on cations, with the highest activity observed in 0.1 M KOH. The molecular details of the interface as a function of potential and electrolyte provide insights for the design of more active electrochemical interfaces.
