Important differences between hypertensive middle-aged women and men in cardiovascular autonomic control-a critical appraisal

Stella V. Philbois et al.

Summary: This study compared cardiovascular autonomic control and baroreflex sensitivity in hypertensive premenopausal women and age-matched men. The results showed that women had higher high-frequency oscillations in HRV analysis, lower LF values, and lower LF/HF ratio compared to men. Hypertensive groups had lower total variance and LF and HF bands values in absolute units, as well as lower baroreflex sensitivity compared to normotensive groups.
