Strategies in vineyard establishment to face global warming in viticulture: a mini review

Gaston Gutierrez-Gamboa et al.

Summary: The wine industry is developing various technological solutions to combat global warming, aiming to achieve wines with lower alcohol content. However, these solutions may be seen as too artificial. Viticultural strategies offer natural ways to delay grape maturation and mitigate the impact of climate change on grape quality.

Effects of Rootstocks on Blade Nutritional Content of Two Minority Grapevine Varieties Cultivated under Hyper-Arid Conditions in Northern Chile

Nicolas Verdugo-Vasquez et al.

Summary: The transformation of Chilean viticulture in the 90s led to the loss of many minor and autochthonous grapevine varieties, but recent years have seen a revaluation of these varieties due to their high tolerance to pests and diseases and adaptation to global warming-induced stress. This study assessed the nutritional status of two autochthonous grapevines grafted onto different rootstocks under hyper-arid conditions in Northern Chile, with results showing significant differences in nutrient levels in blades depending on the rootstock used. The choice of rootstock can impact nutrient absorption in grapevines, affecting growth and adaptability of different grape varieties.

Spatialized system to monitor vine flowering: Towards a methodology based on a low-cost wireless sensor network

Fernando Fuentes-Penailillo et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a low-cost wireless sensor network (WSN) for monitoring the spatial variability of vine phenology in a commercial vineyard using information recollected by a meteorological weather station and a wireless sensor network (WSN). The results indicated the feasibility of developing and implementing a low-cost electronic device for monitoring spatialized phenological events in the vineyard.
