Reduced graphene oxide-decorated CdS/ZnO nanocomposites for photoreduction of hexavalent chromium and photodegradation of methylene blue

Ultra-fast photoreduction of toxic Cr(VI) by CdS-rGO synthesized using single source precursor

Summary: In this study, cadmium sulfide decorated with reduced graphene oxide (CdS-rGO) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized and characterized. The CdS-rGO nanocomposites demonstrated excellent photocatalytic performance, showing ultra-fast reduction of toxic Cr(VI) to less toxic Cr(III). The research also proposed a possible mechanism for the photoreduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) using CdS-rGO under natural sunlight irradiation.
