Ferrocene-Based, Potentially D,C,D-Coordinating (D = O, S), Pincer-Type Proligands and Their Organotin Derivatives

Metalation of 1,3-diiodoferrocene provided ferrocene-based D,C,D-containing (D = O, S) pincer-type ligands [(eta(5)-Cp)Fe(eta(5)-C5H3-1,3-{P(D)R-2}(2))] (1: D = O, R = OiPr; 2: D = O, R = OPh; 3: D = S, R = Ph). The corresponding organotin derivatives [(eta(5)-Cp)Fe(eta(5)-C5H2-1-SnPh3-2,5-{P(O)(OiPr)(2)}(2))] (4), [(eta(5)-Cp)Fe(eta(5)-C5H2-1-SnPh2I-2,5-{P(O)(OiPr)(2)}(2))] (5), and [(eta(5)-Cp)Fe(eta(5)-C5H2-1-SnMe3-2,4-{P(S)Ph-2}(2))] (6) are reported as well. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, H-1, C-13, P-31, Sn-119 NMR and IR spectroscopy, ESI mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (3 and 4).
