Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrogen on FeAg/Si for ammonia synthesis: A simple strategy for continuous regulation of faradaic efficiency by controlling H+ ions transfer rate

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: By tuning the pore numbers of the membrane in an H-type cell, the transfer rate of H+ ions and the Faradaic efficiency can be linearly regulated, and a physical model has been constructed to reveal the changing mechanism of efficiency. The theoretical results are consistent with experimental ones obtained by using synthetic plasma-enhanced bimetallic catalyst, showing a continuous enhancement of Faradaic efficiency from 9.04% to 41.86%.

Iron-Doped MoO3 Nanosheets for Boosting Nitrogen Fixation to Ammonia at Ambient Conditions

Haohong Xian et al.

Summary: Iron-doped alpha-MoO3 nanosheets have been designed as potential catalysts for reducing nitrogen to produce ammonia with high efficiency. The intentional modulation of the alpha-MoO3 band structure by iron doping and the generation of oxygen vacancies beneficial for nitrogen adsorption at the active sites contribute to the excellent performance of the catalyst.

Black phosphorus-hosted single-atom catalyst for electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction

Xiaoyun Lin et al.

Summary: This study explores the performance trends and design principles of transition metal single-atom catalysts with P-based ligands in nitrogen reduction reaction. Results show that W@BP, Ta@BP, and Nb@BP are promising candidates for high selectivity and efficiency in NRR. Constructing a volcano plot reveals that a moderate positive charge on the metal center can enhance the catalytic performance of NRR.
