Rashba Effect and Raman Spectra of Tl2O/PtS2 Heterostructure

Shahid Sattar et al.

Summary: The study investigates the electronic and spintronic properties of Tl2O/PtS2 heterostructure using first-principles calculations, revealing strong interlayer interactions and Rashba spin-splittings driven by interfacial spin-orbit effects caused by PtS2. Additionally, the impact of van der Waals binding on orbital rearrangements is discussed in detail.

The strain-induced excellent thermoelectric performance of PbTe

Donglin Guo et al.

Summary: Through the study, it is found that applying compressive strain has a significant impact on the thermoelectric performance of cubic phase PbTe, leading to a decrease in band gap and Seebeck coefficient, while increasing electrical conductivity, power factor, thermal conductivity, and ZT value. Under compressive strain conditions, the thermoelectric performance of p-type PbTe is superior to that of n-type.

Enhanced atomic ordering leads to high thermoelectric performance in AgSbTe2

Subhajit Roychowdhury et al.

Summary: By optimizing atomic disorder and cadmium doping in polycrystalline silver antimony telluride, high thermoelectric performance with near room-temperature figure of merit ZT of around 1.5 and maximum ZT of around 2.6 at 573 kelvin is achieved. This strategy of enhancing cationic ordering while reducing lattice thermal conductivity is applicable to most thermoelectric materials with inherent atomic disorder.

Rational Electronic and Structural Designs Advance BiCuSeO Thermoelectrics

Yan Gu et al.

Summary: This work reports a record high thermoelectric figure-of-merit ZT of 1.6 +/- 0.2 at 873 K in p-type polycrystalline Bi0.94Pb0.06CuSe1.01O0.99 through rational band manipulation and novel nanostructural design. By reducing carrier concentration through Se substitution, implementing Pb-doping triggered lattice distortions, and utilizing a shear exfoliation technique for grain refinement, the lattice thermal conductivity was reduced and the power factor was improved, leading to the high ZT value.

Wenzhe Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the Rashba spin-orbit coupling of distorted 1T-phase Janus monolayer WSSe, revealing that the dynamic instability can be eliminated by applying compressive strain, and the coupling strength can be manipulated by applying biaxial strain. The charge transfer and atomic orbital compositions play a role in determining the coupling strength of different electronic states.
