The varying driving forces of urban land expansion in China: Insights from a spatial-temporal analysis

Rong Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the spatiotemporally heterogeneous impacts of socioeconomic factors on urban land expansion in China using a geographically and temporally weighted regression model. It found that different regions and cities have varied effects on urban expansion, and factors such as GDP growth, population density, and capital investment play important roles in driving urban expansion with different strengths and directions across space and time.

Exploring the multi-dimensional coordination relationship between population urbanization and land urbanization based on the MDCE model: A case study of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, China

Ling Shan et al.

Summary: The rapid development of urbanization in China has significantly impacted the economy, society, and environment. The coordination relationship between population urbanization and land urbanization is crucial for achieving sustainable urbanization. Using data from the Yangtze River Economic Belt, a multi-dimensional coordination evaluation model was established to assess the coordination between population urbanization and land urbanization. The results showed that there was increasing coordination in development speed, high development levels, and high space matching coordination between population urbanization and land urbanization in the region.

Does Smart City Construction Improve the Green Utilization Efficiency of Urban Land?

Aiping Wang et al.

Summary: The study shows that smart city construction significantly improves the green utilization efficiency of urban land, with significant differences in the effects of smart city construction on cities of different sizes. In cities with higher levels of human capital, financial development, and information infrastructure, the effects of smart city construction on green land use efficiency are more pronounced. Smart city construction promotes green land use efficiency through the development of the information industry and regional innovation capabilities.

Assessment and Spatial-Temporal Evolution Analysis of Urban Land Use Efficiency under Green Development Orientation: Case of the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomerations

Yingkai Tang et al.

Summary: This study constructs an evaluation system for urban land-use efficiency under the green development orientation, using 26 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as examples. The evaluation system takes into account inputs of land, capital, labor, and energy factors while considering the social benefits and undesired outputs brought about by urban development.

How Does Local Real Estate Investment Influence Neighborhood PM2.5 Concentrations? A Spatial Econometric Analysis

Hongjie Bao et al.

Summary: This study uses spatial econometric modeling to explore the relationship between real estate investment and PM2.5 concentrations in China. The results show that real estate investment has a significant impact on PM2.5 concentrations, with clear superposition effects and spillover effects. In the Eastern and Central Regions of China, there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between real estate investment and PM2.5 concentrations, while at the national level, the impacts of real estate investment on land urbanization and PM2.5 concentrations change over time.
