A note on gauge anomaly cancellation in effective field theories

Ferruccio Feruglio

Summary: The study of gauge anomaly cancellation conditions in effective field theories reveals that potential anomalies from the non-renormalizable sector can be removed by adding a local counterterm, ultimately making the condition for gauge anomaly cancellation dependent on the charge assignment of the fermion sector.

Comments on gauge anomalies at dimension-six in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory

Quentin Bonnefoy et al.

Summary: Investigations indicate that higher-dimensional operators in effective field theories cannot source gauge anomalies by modifying interactions involved in triangle diagrams, with dimension-6 operators able to be chosen independently without affecting the consistency of the theory. This finding applies to both the Standard Model and the Standard Model Effective Field Theory, offering a new method to verify the absence of anomalies in the Standard Model.

Resonant third-generation leptoquark signatures at the Large Hadron Collider

Ulrich Haisch et al.

Summary: This study proposes novel LHC searches for leptoquarks (LQs) using production methods beyond strong interaction, and provides detailed evaluations of achievable sensitivities for corresponding LQ signatures. Realistic analysis strategies are developed for resonant signals involving bottom quark and tau lepton, top quark and missing transverse energy, and light-flavour jets plus missing transverse energy, allowing for stringent constraints on the masses and couplings of third-generation singlet vector LQs. The proposed search channels have the potential to probe interesting parts of the LQ parameter space addressing B-physics anomalies at future LHC runs.

Softly shifting away from dark matter direct detection

Chuan-Yang Xing et al.

Summary: We propose a soft-breaking mechanism for dark matter (DM) shift symmetry in a class of composite dark matter models, which is utilized to suppress the nonderivative portal coupling between the Higgs boson and DM particle. By introducing softons, the shift symmetry of DM in the top Yukawa sector is restored, leading to a large amount of novel parameter space being opened up.

Pseudo-Goldstone dark matter in a gauged B - L extended standard model

Nobuchika Okada et al.

Summary: The study proposes a new scenario involving pseudo-Goldstone boson dark matter, explaining dark matter in the universe through the extended B-L standard model. The model's parameter space reproduces the observed dark matter density and is compatible with constraints from the Large Hadron Collider.
