In-situ TEM investigation of 30 keV he+ irradiated tungsten: Effects of temperature, fluence, and sample thickness on dislocation loop evolution

Yipeng Li et al.

Summary: In situ irradiations on tungsten revealed that pre-existing dislocation lines have a profound effect on the size, density and Burgers vector of dislocation loops. The interaction between high density helium clusters can stimulate the formation of <100> loops, while the reaction of two 1/2<111> loop variants driven by long-time and elevated temperature irradiation is also a driving force for <100> loop formation.

Summary: The distribution of swelling depths in different types of steels was characterized after irradiation with Ni ions, showing that preinjection of helium gas can affect the swelling process. The presence of preinjected helium had different effects on swelling in different types of steels.

In situ transmission electron microscopy studies of 30 keV H2+ and He+ dual-beam irradiated Pd: defect generation and microstructural evolution under varied temperatures and foil thicknesses

X. Y. Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microstructural evolution in palladium (Pd) through in situ irradiation experiments, revealing significant effects of temperature, irradiation dose, and sample thickness on the morphology and density of dislocation loops, bubbles, and bubble-loop complexes. Hydrogen resulted in the formation of larger bubbles, while the unfaulting transition of loops led to bubble redistribution. The difference in growth behavior between faulted and perfect loops was discussed, suggesting a critical transform loop size for Pd.
