Visible Light-Driven Radical-Mediated C-C Bond Cleavage/Functionalization in Organic Synthesis

Xiao-Ye Yu et al.

Summary: In recent years, visible light photoredox-catalyzed radical-mediated C-C bond cleavage reactions have emerged as a powerful alternative method for overcoming the thermodynamic and kinetic barrier of C-C bond cleavage in diverse molecular scaffolds. These reactions provide an efficient way to construct structurally diverse molecular skeletons, contributing to the development in the field of synthetic organic chemistry.

Linear-Organic-Polymer-Supported Iridium Complex as a Recyclable Auto-Tandem Catalyst for the Synthesis of Quinazolinones via Selective Hydration/Acceptorless Dehydrogenative Coupling from o-Aminobenzonitriles

Shushu Hao et al.

Summary: In this study, a linear-organic-polymer-supported iridium complex was designed and proven to be an efficient heterogeneous autotandem catalyst for synthesizing quinazolinones. The synthesized catalyst could be recycled five times without significant decrease in catalytic activity.

Visible-Light-Induced Preparation of Quinazolinones by Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohols in Water

Fan Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel visible-light-induced reaction for the construction of quinazolinone derivatives via radical cyclization of 2-aminobenzamides with benzyl alcohols under water phase has been developed. It achieved high yields under mild conditions using I-2 as a photocatalyst, which is cheap, available and easy to handle. This method could provide a promising protocol for the synthesis of quinazolinone derivatives.
