N-doped mesoporous carbon nanosheets for supercapacitors with high performance

Yahui Mo et al.

Summary: In this study, N-doped mesoporous carbon nanosheets were prepared using cheap mica powder as template and resorcinol-formaldehyde resin as carbon precursor. Ethyl orthosilicate was introduced as a porogen to increase mesopores and surface area, while ethylenediamine acted as a catalyst for hydrolysis and polymerization as well as a nitrogen dopant, resulting in improved electrochemical performance.

Species stratification and weather conditions drive tree growth in Scots pine and Norway spruce mixed stands along Europe

Jorge Aldea et al.

Summary: Mixed forests are considered a strategic adaptation to climate change in forest management. Scots pine and Norway spruce, two valuable tree species for European forestry, coexist naturally but the ecological functioning of mixed stands and management strategies are not well understood. In mixed stands, interspecific size-asymmetric competition strongly influences tree growth, with Scots pine growth dependent on temperature and drought, and Norway spruce growth influenced mainly by drought.
