Efficient removal and recovery of arsenic from copper smelting flue dust by a roasting method: Process optimization, phase transformation and mechanism investigation

Wenjuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Efficient removal and recovery of arsenic from copper smelting flue dust were achieved through a roasting method at a relatively low temperature, with the reduction of As(V) and oxidation of arsenic sulfides simultaneously. The addition of sulfuric acid was found to be favorable for arsenic removal, enhancing the thermodynamic driving force and promoting the transformation of arsenate and arsenic sulfides to As2O3.

Strategies for arsenic pollution control from copper pyrometallurgy based on the study of arsenic sources, emission pathways and speciation characterization in copper flash smelting systems

Huihui Zhou et al.

Summary: Arsenic in copper flash smelting systems mainly circulates through recycled materials, especially arsenic from recycled dust and slag concentrate. Reducing the recovery of FSF ESP dust can greatly decrease the arsenic content. FSF slag concentrate poses a high arsenic-related environmental risk and should be carefully handled.

Arsenic removal from acid extraction solutions of copper smelting flue dust

Guangya Zheng et al.

Summary: This study focused on the multi-metal extraction of flue dust from copper smelting, conducting thermodynamic analysis to identify ferric arsenate deposits and various forms of copper and zinc arsenate in acid leaching solution. Single factor experiments were used to verify the research findings, showing that controlling the pH value of the reaction system can effectively separate arsenic from copper and zinc.

Selective leaching of copper and zinc from primary ores and secondary mineral residues using biogenic ammonia

Adam J. Williamson et al.

Summary: The study found that biogenic ammonia produced by Lysinibacillus sphaericus can effectively extract copper and zinc from primary and secondary materials, with high yields and selectivity. Optimal leaching of copper from automotive shredder residues (ASR) was achieved through a refined two-step indirect leaching system. These results provide important insights for future sustainable metal recovery technologies.
