Multinuclear biologically active Ru, Rh, Os and Ir arene complexes

Pavel Starha

Summary: The development of multinuclear homometallic biologically active complexes in modern bioinorganic chemistry offers increased therapeutic effects and variations in mechanism of action. Combining different metal centers within heterometallic complexes ensures unique modes of action, with comparisons between structurally similar analogues playing a key role in research.

Organotin(IV) complexes derived from 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid: synthesis, structure, in vitro cytostatic activity

Xiumei Du et al.

Summary: Seven organotin(IV) complexes derived from 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid have been synthesized and characterized. In vitro cytostatic assessments showed that complexes with n-butyl and phenyl groups exhibit higher anticancer activity and lower cytotoxicity compared to corresponding organotin(IV) precursors. Complex 3 may induce cytostatic and apoptotic effects through ROS-mediated pathway in HepG-2 cells.

Cytotoxicity and DNA interaction in a series of aryl terminated iminopyridine Pt(II) complexes

Riccardo Bondi et al.

Summary: The newly synthesized platinum(II) iminopyridine complexes exhibit good solubility and stability, with good interactions with DNA and significant antiproliferative activity on ovarian carcinoma cells. Complex 13 shows the ability to overcome cisplatin resistance and forms a dual geometry molecular complex with DNA, with hindered interstrand cross-links compared to cisplatin. The interactions with DNA are discussed in relation to the observed cell effects.

New triorganotin(iv) compounds with aromatic carboxylate ligands: synthesis and evaluation of the pro-apoptotic mechanism

Faisal Rashid et al.

Summary: Three new organotin(iv) carboxylate compounds were synthesized and characterized, showing potential anticancer activity through drug-DNA interactions, cytotoxicity evaluations, and molecular mechanisms involving apoptosis pathway modulation. The results of the study suggest that the most potent compound, C2, activates the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis in cancer cells by inducing various cellular changes and interactions.
