Topological behavior of a neutral spin-1/2 particle in a background magnetic field

Summary: The study presents results from a numerical experiment and analytic solutions for a neutral spin-1/2 particle in a magnetic vortex field passing through a double slit barrier, showing interference patterns reminiscent of the Aharonov-Bohm effect. The emergence of a generalized Aharonov-Bohm effect is demonstrated, along with a topological phase transition for the spin-1/2 planar rotor. Additionally, the influence of effective gauge potentials on wave-packet revivals in an ion trap setting is explored.
